I don’t know where you live. But, the cold normally doesn’t effect DVD’s but I can’t imagine freezing the DVD’s would be a good thing.
The heat on the other hand is not good for DVD’s. Heat will melt them and humidity will magnify that. I can’t tell you how many time’s I’ve heard of movies getting cooked in the heat.
So, if you’re planning to store DVD’s for a long period of time, you might want to look into the AC units.
